Bond Astronomical Club
Bond Astronomical Club records, 1928-1963.
These records document the history, activities, and interests of the Bond Astronomical Club, founded in 1924 by Harlow Shapley. The records include mailings to members, such as event and meeting notices, a program from annual dinner, constitution and by-laws, and lists of members (1936-1938, 1947-1949).
The Bond Astronomical Club was founded in 1924 by Dr. Harlow Shapley to bring together professional and amateur astronomers in the Cambridge community, as well as the interested public. The Club held monthly meetings at the Harvard College Observatory, and sponsored a series of annual "open nights" at the Observatory with lectures and telescopic observation for the public.
