This collection contains the records of Section T of the National Defense Research Committee which document the development of the proximity fuze during World War II. It includes office files, project files, laboratory and field notebooks, and artifacts.
Research and development of the proximity fuze in the U.S. was organized under Section T of the National Defense Research Committee and was first located at the Department of Terrestrial Magentism in Washington D.C. from 1940-1942, and then later relocated to the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory from 1942-1946.
