Zeldovich on quarks and gravitational radiation; work with Vitaly Ginzburg on gravitational constants; his comments on Andrei Sakharov; his involvement with the Communist Party; meeting John A. Wheeler in 1968 at international conference; invitations to visit universities in the United States; Joseph Webers gravitational-wave experiment; his admiration for Kip Thorne. Braginsky's discussion of the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) includes: his early impressions of LIGO project; Moscow State University's collaboration with LIGO; comments on Ronald Drever and Rainer Weiss and the disagreements between Drever and Rochus (Robbie) Vogt; LIGOs technical difficulties and the projects disarray; optimism for the new LIGO directorship of Barry Barish and potential improvements to LIGO.
