This collection is comprised of one records center carton containing 173 published and unpublished articles. Also included are papers presented at symposia and conferences and reports which chronicle the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism's research in biophysics from 1931 to 1969. Authors largely represented in this collection include Ellis Bolton, Roy Britten, Dean Cowie, and Richard Roberts.
Biophysics research began at the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism (DTM) in 1931 and ran until 1974. During this time period, physicists at the DTM worked with biologists to research topics such as Escherichia coli (E. coli), deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA).
