Schmidt, Theodor Wilhelm. 1908-1972
Theodor Schmidt papers, 1937-1968.
The collection contains mainly technical and scientific publications in English and German, some by Schmidt. Primarily the papers relate to aeronautical weapons research, including anti-aircraft artillery, rockets, and missiles. Also included are correspondence, notebooks, and papers from Schmidt's time serving in the Luftwaffe and notes, typewritten reports, photographs, maps, films, glass slides, a scrapbook of albumen photos of Germany and Belgium, and bibliographies of Schmidt's works.
German physicist and mathematician. Directed the German Luftwaffe Research Institute in 1930s and 1940s. After WWII, worked for the Royal Aircraft Establishment in England and later became chief of the U.S. Army's Systems Research Office in Durham, N.C.
