AAPT Chesapeake Section records of the secretary, 1956-1984.
This collection contains documents from the office of the secretary of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) Chesapeake Section, a post that was filled by several people during the creation of these records. The files consist mostly of correspondence and meeting materials for Executive Committee meetings and business meetings of the AAPT Chesapeake Section. The collection also contains section and officer directories for selected years, drafts of the section constitution, and one folder of materials outlining the history of the AAPT Chesapeake Section.
The Chesapeake Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) represents educators from high schools and universities in Delaware, the DC area, Virginia and Maryland, and is part of the national AAPT. The goal from the Section's constitution is "...the advancement of the teaching of physics, the professional advancement of the teachers of physics at all levels, and the furtherance of the appreciation of the role of physics in our culture." The Section meets twice a year to discuss educational practices and how to better promote physics education and research.
