Smith, Lincoln Gilmore, 1912-
Lincoln Gilmore Smith collection, 1950-1966.
This collection consists of miscellaneous manuscripts of Lincoln G. Smith, including progress reports and patents for a mass spectrometer and his article "Magnetic Electron Multipliers for Detection of Positive Ions", and related correspondence. Included are manuscripts and typescripts, some of which are signed, of Annual Progress Reports on High Resolution Mass Spectrometer presented by Lincoln Smith and Walker Bleakney, dated from 1962 to 1966. The correspondence is chiefly about patents which Smith had applied for the Mass Spectrometer; and is dated 1960-1965. Included with the manuscripts and the correspondence are several illustrations and diagrams, photographs, and printed material.
Lincoln Gilmore Smith was a physicist and a professor of Physics at Princeton University. Smith graduated from Princeton University in 1937. He conducted research on mass and infrared spectroscopy and shock waves.
