This collection includes correspondence relating to R. A. Young's activities as editor of the Journal of Applied Crystallography and his career at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). The Georgia Tech materials reveal his research and administrative contributions to the School of Physics and the Engineering Experiment Station.
Professor Emeritus of Physics, Dr. Young earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Georgia Tech (1950 and 1951) and his Ph.D. from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in 1959. In addition to teaching in the Georgia Tech School of Physics, Dr. Young headed several branches of the Georgia Tech Engineering Experiment Station (EES).
