The collection contains materials pertaining to the meetings of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) Executive Board including agendas, handouts, meeting packets, and correspondence. In addition to the official meeting packets distributed by AAPT, this collection contains separate files kept by Khoury containing his personal notes on the meetings that he attended. In his time as Executive Officer, Khoury oversaw several projects including the formation of the American Center for Physics, the hosting of the International Physics Olympiad by the United States in 1993, and the beginning and maturation of New Faculty Workshops.
The American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) is a professional organization devoted to enhancing the understanding and appreciation of physics education through teaching at all levels. Dr. Khoury has extensive experiences in university administration, academic affairs, academic planning, science and public policy, and physics education. Bernard Khoury served as AAPT Executive Officer from July 1990 to September 2006.
