Robert Bigham Brode papers, 1922-1975.
The Robert Bigham Brode papers contain correspondence, administrative files, notebooks, course materials, publications and artifacts that document his career at the University of California, Berkeley as well as his research on cosmic rays. The collection includse files on Brodes participation in such groups as the American Institute of Physics and its Committee on Physics Faculties in Colleges, the American Association of Physics Teachers, and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the Department of State. The photographs chronicle many of Brodes experiments and the declassified files included provide some insight into his contributions to the war effort in the 1940s.
American physicist. Ph.D., physics (1924, California Institute of Technology). Professor of physics and director of the Space Science Laboratory, University of California at Berkeley (1927-1967). Other affiliations: Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Applied Physics Laboratory, Johns Hopkins; Los Alamos and the Manhattan Project.
