Contains undated autobiographical sketch, in which she focuses on her career in astronomy and mathematics, as well as in the field of education. Included with this is a list of publications which feature McDonald's writings. Also, typescripts of two reports written by McDonald: Notes on Anti-aircraft Mathematics (1942), and Report of the Subcommittee on Mathematics of the California Committee for the Study of Education (1945).
Sophia Levy McDonald (1888-1963). Prominent educator in the fields of mathematics and astronomy. Instructor in Mathematics (1923), Assistant Professor (1925), Associate Professor (1940), Professor of Mathematics (1949), Professor Emeritus (1953), University of California, Berkeley. She was also a major contributor to the teaching of mathematics in secondary schools and served as a member of the Subcommittee on Mathematics of the California Committee for the Study of Education.
