This collection contains grant applications, correspondence, memoranda, and reports related to individual faculty research projects. Included are correspondence files of individual faculty mostly dealing with research projects. The collection also contains memoranda, meeting minutes, and reports concerning general department administration, chiefly curricula and faculty personnel matters. Included are department newsletters, 1971-1981. Also included are files related to participation in the Utah State Advisory Council on Science and Technology, 1975-1978, and the Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, 1960-1978.
The Department of Physics is located in the College of Science and awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees. During the period covered by the bulk of these records, Peter Gibbs, Haven E. Bergeson, and Eugene C. Loh served as department heads.
