Oral history interview with Richard K. Cook, 1988 June 8.
Dr. Cook remembers Louis Tuckerman and the invention of the strain and stress gauges in the 1920s, his acoustic proximity fuze work during the war, his work in solid state physics and ultrasonics at Bell Laboratories, and his work at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in geoacoustics. Cook also recalls the Harry Diamond Labs, his assignment to the National Bureau of Standard (NBS) Director's Office as Special Assistant in Acoustics, the Noise Control Act and the anechoic chamber at NBS.
