Boston University. Optical Research Laboratory
The Boston University Optical Research Laboratory collection, 1946-1999.
The collection consists of professional material, printed material, numerous photographs, film reels, correspondence, office files, technical and research files, scientific reports and project papers, memorabilia, equipment, and other items relating to the Boston University Optical Research Laboratory. Notable items include the papers and photographs regarding the CORONA project and the Boston Camera.
In 1946, the optical laboratories were transferred from Harvard University to Boston University, and titled Boston University Optical Research Laboratory; in the mid-1950s, the name was changed to Boston University Physical Research Laboratories, then later renamed Boston University Optical Research Center. The laboratory was privatized in the 1970s, and became Itek Optical Systems Division of Itek Corporation.
