Soures, John M., 1943-
Oral History interview with John Soures, 2003 December 11.
Interview covers the founding and early years of the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE). Soures was an early collaborator with LLE founder Moshe Lubin, and has been associated with LLE since its opening in the 1970s. Soures discusses the early design and building of Omega, LLEs major laser innovation, and compares LLE to other national laser facilities, including magnetic confinement systems such as Princetons Plasma Physics Laboratorys Tokamak and laser ignition systems such as Lawrence Livermore. He provides an assessment of LLEs major technical contributions, its place with the broader national laser effort, and its future role as test-bed for the National Ignition Facility at Livermore.
