Lyman Spitzer, Jr. (1914-1997). Education: B.S. (Physics), Yale University; Cambridge University; M.A., Ph.D. (Astrophysics), Princeton University. Professional experience: Professor, Yale University and Princeton University; Chairman of Astrophysics and Director of the Observatory, Princeton University; helped to develop the Hubble Space Telescope. Research interests: stellar dynamics, plasma physics, thermonuclear fusion, and space astronomy.
