Lomonosov, Mikhail Vasil'evich, 1711-1765.
Annotated works.
The "Lomonossoviana" includes three annotated works from Lomonosov's library, as follows: two copies of Georgius Kalmar's "Genvina linguae hebraicae grammatica. Sive, vetus illa since masoritharum punctis hebraisandi vai," Genevae, Typis P. Pellet, Typographi, 1760. Two copies, each with colored covers bound in leather and with golden stamping: "Evreiskaia grammatica 1760 g. prinadlezhvshaia prashchuru syna moego Mikhailu Vasil'evichu Lomonosovu" (The hebraic grammar of 1760 belonged to the forefather of my son Mikhail Vasil'evich Lomonosov"). On the title page of each copy are inscriptions of unknown hand in Latin which confirm Lomonosov's possession of these books and indicate the date: "Varsava 6 Aug. 1761." On the backside of the cover of the first copy there is an inscription in A. N. Raevskij's hand: "Dear little grandson, this is a book which belonged other time to glorious Makhail Vasil'evich Lomonosov, my grandgrandfather and your foreforefather, keep it with you as a relic of the erudition of that time and a property of your famous ancestor. 13 July 1863, St. Petersburg, A. N. Raevskij." On the fly-leaf there is also the dedication by I. G. Nostits to his son G. I. Nostits: "To Grisha, 16 April 1878, Moscow". A third book, entitled "Novyj i kratkij sposob k slozheniiu rossijskikh stikhov s opredeleniiami do sego nadlezhshchikh zvanij. Chrez Vasil'ia Trediakovskogo, St. Petersburgskiia imperatorskiia Akademii Nauk Sekretaria Pechatano v Sanktpeterburge pri Imperatorskoj Akademii Nauk MDCCXXXV" (approximate: "New and brief method to put together Russian verses with definition of related titles. Printed through the secretary of the Imperial Academy of Science Vasilij Trediakovski in St. Petersburg, 1735,)" in leather binding, with numerous corrections, insertions and notes by Lomonosov.
