Includes documents related to Kupfer's scientific activity; for instance, his project on the introducing of the metallic airmeters; notes by Kupfer and B. S. (M. H.) Jakobi on the alcoholmeter; "On Ventilation" (journals of the Committee formed for the considering of various types of ventilation and a booklet on the ventilation methods abroad); papers concerning the formation of the Physical Observatory; some papers on resistance and elasticity of metals; notes about joining the railway elements and about the use of passage tools for checking the clocks; materials from Kupfer's ethnographic studies of Kalmyks, Voguls and Caucasian tribes; and correspondence with A. v. Humbolt and that related to expedition to Sea of Okhotsk. Some drafts and rough copies.
