Laboratory for Nuclear Science [videorecording] 14 May 1992.
The forty-sixth anniversary symposium of the Laboratory for Nuclear Science, started in 1946, features two talks given at the Center for Theoretical Physics. The first, "Surprising successes of field theory" by Roman Jackiw, covers the theory of special relativity and quantum mechanics, the birth of modern physics, time travel as a historic analogy for these theories, cosmic strings and the structure of the universe. Alan H. Guth talks about "Inflationary Cosmology", including grand unified theories, Big Bang, superstrings and the expansion of the universe.
