The Commission was formed on 30 January 1960 as an interdepartmental body whose decisions were considered as those of the Academy and the State Committee on Atomic Energy (Goskomitet po atomnoi ehnerguii (GKAE)), and was dissolved in 1993. The Chairman: A. P. Aleksandrov (1960-1993).
