On 11 February 1932 the Central Asian Research Institute for the Solar Radiation Engineering (Sredneasiatskii nauchno-tekhnicheskii geliotekhnicheskii institut) (SAGI) was founded in Samarkand under the authority of Central Commission for Energetics (Glavenergo), that was subordinated to the Academy as the Laboratory for solar Radiation Engineering attached to the Krzhyzhanovskii Energetic Institute of the Academy (Energeticheskii institut imeni Krzhyzhanovskogo). On 1 July 1935 the Laboratory came under the authority of Uzbekistan State University. The headmaster: I. F. Dubrovskii.
