William Henry Maw : a life / W. E. Simnett.
Unpublished biography of Maw by W. E. Simnett, M.B.E., Assoc. Inst. C.E. Maw was an engineer, journalist and astronomer, President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (1901-02) and of the Institution of Civil Engineers (1922-23) and editor of the periodical Engineering for 58 years. He was a founding member of the British Astronomical Assn. in 1890 and became treasurer and later president. He erected the Thorrowgood Telescope at his home in Surrey in 1896, and used it for measurements of double stars. Includes contents page and associated photographs and letters.
