James McConnell experimental notebooks on ice, 1887-1974.
Notebooks with observations on snow and ice, and descriptions of experiments.
Physicist. Born 1860; B.A. and M.A. (1886), Clare College, Cambridge; became a Fellow there in 1888. Assistant Demonstrator in Experimental Physics at the university, 1884-1885. Because of poor health settled in Switzerland where he carried out his observations on the properties of ice. Died there in 1890.
