Division for Aviation was established in 1936 and closed in 1945. Until 1944, Professor Koppe was the division manager; from 1944-1945, Professor Winter. The Institute for Airplane Construction was headed by Professor Winter from 1936 to 1945. Institute for Airplane Construction and Lightweight Construction was headed by Professor Winter until 1966, and from 1966 by Professor Thieleman.
