A SUNY research center, the Atmospheric Sciences Research Center was established in 1960 and located on the University at Albany campus. Its mission was to foster basic and applied research related to atmospheric phenomena and their environmental consequences. The Center has concentrated on study of cloud physics, atmospheric electricity, solar and alternative sources of energy, air pollution, aerobiology, and Antarctic meteorology.
