Discusses the design of the first riometer in 1955, which measures radio waves in space. Principal scientist for the Riometer Project of the IGY Cosmic Noise Project; operated riometers at seven of the Geophysical Research Institute's sub-stations during the IGY. Explains work at the Geophysical Institute of the University of Alaska observing auroral displays.
