Topics covered include Bull's work at the Institute of Polar Studies at Ohio State University; sponsoring the first all-woman field expedition to Antarctica in 1969; expeditions to North Greenland in the 1950s; work at the New Zealand University leading expeditions to the Antarctic; helping to place Richard E. Byrd's papers at Ohio State and the subsequent renaming the Institute of Polar Studies to the Byrd Polar Research Center.
Born in England; Ph.D. from Birmingham University in condensed matter physics in 1951. Moved to New Zealand where he joined expeditions to the Antarctic for the IGY. Went to the Institute of Polar Studies in 1961; director until 1969, then becoming Dean of Mathematics and Physical Sciences. Retired in 1986.
