Carette, Jean-Denis, 1931-1983.
Jean-denis Carette papers, 1955-1984.
Papers include notes for the courses Carette taught at Laval; files concerning his publications, oral presentations, patents, and international cooperation (mainly Franco-Canadian) in the field of nuclear physics; his masters and doctoral theses and documents concerning theses he directed; grant submissions; correspondence, minutes, annual reports, and other documents relating to learned societies, professional associations, research centers, and scientific bodies and installations with which he was involved, such as the astronomic observatory at Mont-Mǧantic, the astrophysics and atomic and nuclear physics laboratories at Universit ̌Laval, and the National Research Council in Ottowa. These papers document the education of physicists at Laval from the 1950s to the 1980s and the teaching, research, administrative, and professional activities of a university professor of physics from the 1960s to the beginning of the 1980s.
Physicist (mass spectrometry, electronic optics). Doctorate at Universit ̌Laval, under supervision of Larkin Kerwin, 1966. Full professor at Laval from 1973 when he was also appointed director of the Centre de Recherches sur Les Atomes et Les Molčules de l'Universit ̌Laval. Initially his research focused on the field of mass spectrometry, but it evolved to embrace, among other subjects, electronic optics and the study of surfaces by electronic bombardment.
