Includes personal memorabilia ( a grade book of Hedwig Kohn from secondary school in Breslau, Germany, "Tafellied" a dinner ballad for the wedding of her parents, another "Tafellied" on the occasion of the wedding of a friend; tribute to Hermann von Helmholtz' silver anniversary); reproductions of satirical items from the Physics Institute at the University of Breslau; autograph calculations, poems (one transcribed by B. Winnewisser); correspondence with R. Ladenburg; photographs; postcards.
Physicist; born in Breslau, Germany. Received Ph.D., University of Breslau, 1913; became Lecturer in Physics, 1930. Worked with the nature of light emission from metal vapors in flames. Emigrated to the U.S. in the late 1930s; made instructor in physics at Women's College of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, 1940. Appointed lecturer at Wellesley College in physics, 1942; associate professor, 1945; full professor, 1948. After retiring joined the staff of the physics department at Duke University.
