Newman Professor of Physics from 1987 and director of Laboratory of Atomic and Solid State Physics, Cornell University from 1990. Co-winner of the 1996 Nobel Prize in physics for work in low temperature physics. Member of the Board of Trustees of Duke University from 1997.
