John Evershed papers.
Includes albums of collected papers, correspondence, and publications up until 1945, including popular articles; also reports Evershed filed in the 'Bulletin of the Kodaikanal Observatory.' His research was largely in the area of solar spectroscopy.
John Evershed was a founding member of the British Astronomical Association and later Assistant Director of the Kodaikanal Observatory that now (1993) comes under the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. While at Kodaikanal he did some path-breaking work on the spectrum of sunspots and discovered the Evershed effect. He retired from the Kodaikanal Observatory in 1923.
