Norwegian meteorologist. Mohn (1835-1916) attended Kristiania (now Oslo) University. Became observer at Kristiania Astronomical Observatory; professor there from 1866; director, Meteorological Institute, 1866-1913; head expedition to northern coast of Norway, 1876-1878; set up Bossekop meteorological station in Lapland, 1882-1883. Research on oceanography and meteorology of North Atlantic regions, dynamics of atmosphere; developed hypothesis of arctic currents and drift.
