The collection contains biographical material about Loomis, patent correspondence and patents for long-range navigational systems, a guest book, and reprints of papers from the Loomis Laboratories.
A.B., physics (Yale University, 1909). Established Loomis Laboratories in 1926 in Tuxedo Park, NY; chairman, Microwave Committee, National Defense Research Committee (NDRC); influential in establishing the Radiation Laboratory at MIT (1940). He was also a pioneer in the development of long-range navigational systems and the development of radar use in the military, and participated in preliminary meetings of the Manhattan Project.
