Physical chemist. Adam (FRS, FRIC) was educated at Winchester College and Trinity College Cambridge. He was a Fellow of Trinity College, 1915-1923, Royal Society Sorby Research Fellow at Sheffield University, 1921-1929, Professor of Chemisty at the University of Southampton, 1937-1957.
