Exercise book containing mathematical formulae concerning waves and vibrations handwritten by Henry Dyer. Studied at Glasgow University, probably under William Thomson (Lord Kelvin) and William Rankine.
Engineer and educationalist. In 1872 while still stuyding at Glasgow University, Dyer was offered the position of Principal of New Engineering College in Tokyo and played a prominent part in Japan's modernisation. On his return to Glasgow he concerned himself with educational matters, becoming Chairman of Glasgow School Board in 1914.
