Collection contains correspondence, clippings, reports, research notes, presentations, proposals, publications, reprints, and photographs relating to Dr. Richter's career at Stanford including his involvement with and participation in Stanford University governance; his work as an administrator and scientist at SLAC; his involvement in science policy development and review in the United States and abroad; and his participation in the development of storage ring physics at Stanford University and in the design and development of the SPEAR storage ring at SLAC. Other topics include: relationship with the Department of Energy, meetings and conferences, fusion, High Energy Physics Advisory Panel (HEPAP), international committees and cooperation, the superconducting super collider, the Positron-Electron Project (PEP).

Stanford University Paul Pigott Professor of Physical Sciences and Director, Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC); received his doctorate from Massachussetts Institute of Technology in 1956, and has been associated with Stanford University from that time to the present as Research Associate (1960-1963); Associate Professor, SLAC (1963-1967); Professor, SLAC (1967); Technical Director, SLAC (1982-1984); and Director, SLAC (1984-1999); Director Emeritus, SLAC, Stanford University from 1999. Received Nobel Prize in 1976 for co-discovery of the J/Psi particle.
