Correspondence, stenographic notes and verbatim transcripts of Committee hearings and proceedings, notes and drafts of reports by Dr. Conant, reports from Federal agencies and industrial concerns involved in rubber production, technical studies on synthetic rubber processes, and printed reports of Congressional hearings.
The Committee was created by Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 6, 1942, to report on the feasibility of artificially producing a rubber or rubber-like substance. Committee members included Bernard M. Baruch, Dr. Carl Compton, and Dr. James B. Conant. The report was submitted September 10, 1942.
