William Joseph Whiting Papers, 1916-1941.
Whiting wrote poems, articles for newspapers and periodicals, and technical papers relating to the Filterlite. Included are writings by his wife, Lida W. Whiting, biographical information, legal documents, family photos, and material relating to the Whiting Filterlite Corp.
Inventor of Whiting Filterlite (a light filter). Studied engineering, pure physics and biology at Yale University (1905-1910). During World War I, performed special optical work for the U.S. Navy. After the war he continued to work for the Navy researching dyes.
