Anders held appointments in the Department of Chemistry and the Enrico Fermi Institute at the University of Chicago from 1955 until his retirement. Known for studies of meteorites and lunar samples, and other investigations in the field of cosmochemistry including chemical processes in the solar nebula, compostion of the planets, and relations between meteorites and asteroids.
