Papers cover his active role in the Dept. of Astronomy at the University of Michigan. Biographical material, correspondence, topical files, teaching materials, research files, and photographs relating to professional interests, including his interest in photoelectric photometry leading to the discovery of interstellar polarization; also files relating to various observatories. Much relates to the interuniveristy research endeavors with which he was associated, especially AURA and its 2.4 meter telescope at McGraw Hill Observatory at Kitt Peak.
