William Charles Parkinson papers, 1950-1990.
Papers relate to Parkinson's activities at the University of Michigan. Parkinson was director of the Cyclotron Laboratory at Ann Arbor from 1962-1977. The series includes material on the resarch projects and administration of the cyclotron laboratory, aespcially with the 83-inch cyclotron. Includes correspondence with the Atomic Energy Commission, laboratory annual reports, progress reports, and proposals. The Physics Department series reflects Parkinson's participation in the department administration, as well as cyclotron information. The Professional Organization series includes information on Parkinson's affiliation with: Argonne National Laboratory, Atomic Energy Commission, National Academy of Science, and the National Science Foundation. Files also cover his service on the university's Board in Control of Intercollegiate Athletics, and his invention of the timing device used in swimming meets.
