J., and the controversy between the heirs of Vail and Samuel F. B. Morse over their respective importance in the invention of telegraphy; and other family papers; together with drafts, galleys and printed copies of articles and monographs about Vail by his son, James Cummings Vail including the Early history of the electro-magnetic telegraph from letters and journals of Alfred Vail (1914).
