Richard B. Roberts notebook, 1938-1939.
This notebook contains Robert's laboratory data and notes for the period September 1938 to April 1939, including notes on the atom-splitting experiment. The volume also contains a letter from Roberts to his father, giving the background of the experiement.
Physicist and biophysicist. Participated in the experiment in which the splitting of the uranium atom was first observed in 1939. At the time, he was a Fellow at the Carnegie Institution in Washington, D.C. Died 1980.
