The Walter G. Cady Papers consists of pamphlets, correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, research notes, miscellaneous notebooks, technical reprint files, academic journals, patent papers, awards/certificates, personal correspondence, newspaper articles, published material, and 1 copy of Piezoelectricity, an introduction to the Theory and Applications of Electromechanical Phenomena in Crystals in two volumes (Vol. 1 and 2) by Walter Guyton Cady (New Revised Edition) (Dover Publications inc, 1964)
Cady (1874-1974) graduated from Brown University (B.Ph., 1895) and from the University of Berlin (Ph.D. Physics, 1900). From 1902-1946 Cady served as a professor of physics at Wesleyan University. After his retirement he continued to be active in consulting work for industry and the federal government. Cady's principal interests included the study of electrical discharges in gases, piezoelectricity, ultrasonics, piezoelectric resonators and oscillators, and crystal devices.
