Correspondence, speeches and lectures on meteorology, annual reports (1869) for the Cincinnati Observatory, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks (1869-1973), mostly on Cincinnati's astronomical progress at the observatory, Abbe's proposal for a new observatory in 1870, and pictures of other observatories and equipment, and other papers. The bulk of the records relate to observations and material concerning the establishment of the weather predicting system in Cincinnati, 1868-1871. Includes correspondence concerning Abbe's efforts to establish his place in the history of meteorology and material relating to his proposal for standard time.
