Espenscheid, Lloyd, 1889-
Lloyd Espenscheid papers, 1907-1969.
This collection consists of a great deal of miscellaneous information on the history of telephonic and wireless communication, considerable personal correspondence about men and events in the field, especially disputed claims of inventions, development, and the like.
Lloyd Espenschied (1889-) was born in St. Louis, Missouri and in 1909 graduated from the Pratt Institute in electrical engineering. During 1909-1910 he was on the staff of the Telefunken Wireless Telegraph Company. From 1910 to 1934 he worked for American Telephone and Telegraph Company in various capacities; and from 1934 to 1937 he directed high-frequency transmission development for the Bell Telephone Laboratories. Espenschied's chief interests seem to have been in the area of wide-band and carrier waves and in wide band systems for communication.
