American Physical Society Southeastern Section records, 1935-1991.
A complete set of all of the programs and all of the bulletins of the Section has been assembled and bound. Some supplementary information relative to the first years of the Section has been bound into the volumes also. These volumes provide a records of the activities of the Section from its beginnings through the 38th meeting in 1971. The programs provide good pictures of the meetings, and the bulletins provide both a record of the changing membership and a detailed account of the offices of the Section. A list of the 75 men who gathered for the 1935 meeting and of the 56 other individuals who missed the 1935 meeting but got to the 1936 meeting is included. Later additions include programs and bulletins from 1972 to 1991.
First organized in 1935 in Decatur, GA as the Southeastern Association of Physicists, renamed the Southeastern Society of Physicists in 1936, the group affiliated with the American Physical Society (APS) as the Southeastern Section of the APS in 1937. Its objective is the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics.
