Feenberg, Eugene.
Eugene Feenberg papers, 1906-1977.
Collection includes research and lecture notes covering the fields of many-body theory and quantum mechnaics, personal and professional correspondence, journal offprints, and books. In addition to documenting Feenberg's research, the collection contains a rich record of the early history of quantum mechanics in Europe during the 1930s. The correspondence files include letters from such figures as Hans Bethe, Eugene Wigner, Max Born, and John von Neumann.
Feenberg (1906-1977). Physicist (quantum theory, nuclear physics). National Academy of Sciences; professor, Washington University department of physics; University of Wisconsin; staff, Sperry Gyroscope Company. His pioneering work in many-body theory resulted in the establishment of an annual award, the Feenberg Medal, given by the International Society for Many-Body Problems. The first Feenberg Medal was awarded in 1987. In 1984, the Eugene Feenberg Memorial Lecture was established at Washington University.
