Correspondence, manuscript diaries, essays, and lecture notes. Copy letters to and from over 180 correspondents, among them leading scientists of the day such as Lavoisier, Priestley, Cavendish, Sir Joseph Banks, and Allessandro Volta. Lecture notes and essays range from lectures on air and its composition, to mathematics, astronomy, and electricity. Van Marum's diaries cover journeys through Germany in 1798 and Switzerland in 1802.
