The files cover a wide range of subjects, including fuzes and explosives, infra-red systems, radar and radio, insecticides, and fuels.
Established in 1941 in Washington, D. C. to continue the work of scientific cooperation between Britain and America initiated by the Henry Tizard Mission in 1940. The Office also coordinated scientific services common to all British organizations in America. In 1944 it merged with the scientific missions of Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa to form the British Commonwealth Scientific Office.
